The History of RAW Cones: How Cones and Rolling Papers Changed Smoking Culture

The History of RAW Cones: How Cones and Rolling Papers Changed Smoking Culture

by Green Blazer Media on Jan 13, 2026
Before RAW Cones became a staple for smokers around the world, cones and rolling papers occupied very different roles in smoking culture. Rolling papers were common, but rolling itself was a learned skill—one that came with frustration, inconsistency, and wasted material. Cones existed only on the margins, more idea than industry. What RAW ultimately did was connect these two worlds, transforming cones and rolling papers from functional tools into something more intentional, accessible, and widely adopted. This article explores the full history of cones and rolling papers, and how RAW helped redefine both. Rolling Papers Before RAW: A Culture Built on Skill Rolling papers have existed for centuries, but for most of modern history they were designed with tobacco in mind. By the twentieth century, the rolling paper industry was dominated by bleached, heavily processed papers engineered for visual uniformity rather than flavor or burn quality. For cannabis smokers, this often meant harsh smoke and muted taste, an accepted compromise simply because alternatives were rare. Rolling was inseparable from the experience. If you wanted a joint, you had to roll it yourself or know someone who could. The act carried a certain prestige, but it also created barriers. Beginners struggled. Group sessions depended on one or two “good rollers.” Poor rolls burned unevenly and wasted material, yet these flaws were normalized as part of smoking culture. Rolling papers were everywhere, but the experience they delivered was inconsistent by design. Early Cones: An Old Idea Without a System The cone shape itself predates modern rolling papers. Hand-rolled cones appeared as early as the mid-1800s, used by pharmacists and workers who needed a fast, efficient way to prepare a smoke. In the 1920s, cones gained popularity in nightlife and jazz scenes because they could be rolled ahead of time and shared easily. Despite this long history, cones remained informal and unstandardized. They were something you made, not something you bought. Rolling papers still required skill, and cones were simply one more technique rather than a product category. That began to change in the 1990s, when MountainHigh introduced the first mass-produced pre-rolled cones for Amsterdam coffee shops. These early cones solved a practical problem (saving time) but they didn’t redefine cones and rolling papers as materials. The paper quality was largely unchanged, and outside of Europe, cones remained niche. Convenience existed, but intention was still missing. The Problem with Traditional Rolling Papers By the early 2000s, cones and rolling papers were treated as commodities. White, bleached papers became the standard, achieved through chemical processes that left traces of chlorine, heavy metals, and additives in the paper. Most smokers didn’t question what their rolling papers were made from because there was little reason to believe anything better existed. However, research has shown that bleached and flavored papers can significantly increase exposure to toxic elements, in some cases contributing more pollutants than the smoking material itself. Traditional bleached papers contained:  Chlorine compounds that release toxins when burned  Calcium carbonate to slow the burn (but irritating to respiratory systems) Heavy metals from manufacturing processes and contaminated pulp Dyes and optical brighteners to achieve that "clean" white appearance  The irony? Papers were being heavily processed and chemically treated to look pure, when natural, unprocessed papers were actually cleaner all along. The Birth of RAW: One Man's Million-Dollar Gamble Josh Kesselman's journey to creating RAW began humbly in 1993. Fresh out of the University of Florida, he sold everything he owned to open a tiny smoke shop called Knuckleheads in Gainesville, Florida. After a federal raid in 1996 forced him to refocus his business entirely on rolling papers, Kesselman relocated to Arizona and founded HBI International in 1997. He connected with a rolling paper factory owner in Alcoy, Spain—a region with papermaking traditions dating back to 1764—and created two successful brands: Juicy Jay's and Elements. But the turning point came in 2004. Kesselman had become convinced that the market needed truly natural, unbleached rolling papers. He found only one supplier who could provide natural, unbleached fiber suitable for "vegan" rolling papers, but there was a catch. The minimum order was $1 million. But Kesselman believed in his vision. He scraped together the investment and placed the order. When RAW Rolling Papers launched in 2005, it wasn't positioned as a premium luxury brand—it was a rejection of unnecessary processing. The papers were unbleached, minimally processed, and free from additives used purely for appearance or burn manipulation. RAW became the first company to offer "vegan" unbleached rolling papers made from natural plant fibers with no chemicals, additives, or dyes. The natural brown color that other manufacturers tried to bleach away became RAW's signature. RAW rolling papers looked different, tasted different, and behaved differently. The paper no longer competed with the material being smoked. For the first time, rolling papers were being evaluated not just on usability, but on what they were made of, and what they weren't. The Genesis of RAW Cones As RAW rolling papers gained popularity, a familiar problem resurfaced: people loved the paper, but many still disliked rolling. Rolling remained a skill-based barrier, especially for new smokers and social settings. RAW Cones emerged as a response to that tension. Rather than inventing a new concept, RAW refined an existing one. By applying its unbleached rolling paper to a pre-shaped cone, RAW removed the most frustrating part of the process without altering the integrity of the smoke. The same fibers. The same natural gum. The same criss-cross watermark designed to promote an even, slow burn. RAW Cones weren’t about shortcuts. They were about removing friction. They made cones and rolling papers work together in a way that preserved quality while expanding accessibility. Cultural Impact and Industry Disruption RAW's success wasn't immediate—it required a cultural shift. Around 2008, hip-hop artists began discovering RAW and sharing it with their communities. Wiz Khalifa famously dedicated a song to the brand titled "Raw" and later partnered with RAW to release his own line in 2014. Other artists like Curren$y, 2 Chainz, and Mick Jenkins also endorsed the brand, amplifying RAW's message to millions. The timing was perfect. Consumers were increasingly looking for healthier, more natural smoking experiences. RAW's message of purity and quality resonated with a generation becoming more conscious about what they put in their bodies. How RAW Cones Redefined the Category As cannabis markets expanded, the impact of RAW Cones became increasingly clear. Consistency mattered more than ever, especially for pre-roll production. RAW Cones allowed manufacturers and dispensaries to scale without sacrificing burn quality or material efficiency. Over time, cones became foundational infrastructure rather than novelty items. RAW didn't just compete in the category, it also redefined it. Natural, unbleached cones were no longer a fringe preference; they became the benchmark. Competing brands followed with their own versions, but the standard had already been set. Cones and rolling papers were no longer judged solely on convenience, but on material integrity and performance. The disruption became undeniable when: High Times Magazine included RAW Black papers on their list of best rolling papers (2017) Esquire added RAW to their best rolling papers list (2022) During the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for RAW products tripled By 2025, RAW became recognized as the #1 biggest brand in the rolling paper industry In 2025, actor Timothée Chalamet and rapper EsDeeKid released "4 RAWS (Remix)" with the lyric "Every time I smoke, I light 4 RAWs," garnering over 115 million views on X From Technique to Experience: A Cultural Transformation Culturally, RAW Cones changed who could participate confidently in smoking. The focus moved away from rolling skill and toward the shared experience itself. Beginners could contribute. Groups could prepare ahead. Sessions became less about execution and more about intention. What was once dismissed as "lazy" gradually became normalized, and eventually preferred. RAW Cones proved that ease didn't mean lower quality. With RAW, convenience and craftsmanship finally aligned. RAW's broader philosophy reinforced this shift. The brand's emphasis on transparency, simplicity, and community resonated with smokers who wanted to be more conscious about what they used. Cones and rolling papers stopped being invisible accessories and became part of a larger conversation about materials, values, and experience.   FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What are RAW Cones made of?RAW Cones are made from unbleached, natural plant fibers and use natural gum, with no added chalk, dyes, or chemical fillers. Why did RAW Cones become so popular?RAW Cones gained popularity because they combined the convenience of pre-rolled cones with the same natural materials and slow, even burn found in RAW rolling papers. What’s the difference between cones and rolling papers?Rolling papers require manual rolling, while cones are pre-shaped. RAW Cones remove the rolling step while preserving the same paper quality and smoking experience. Did RAW invent pre-rolled cones? No. Pre-rolled cones existed before RAW, but RAW refined the concept by pairing cones with unbleached, additive-free rolling paper and consistent burn technology. Are RAW Cones better than regular rolling papers? It depends on preference. RAW rolling papers offer full control for those who enjoy rolling, while RAW Cones offer consistency and ease without sacrificing paper quality.   What RAW Cones Stand For Today Today, RAW Cones represent more than a format. They represent a shift in expectations. Natural materials are assumed. Even burns are expected. Consistency is no longer a bonus, but the baseline. RAW didn’t invent cones, and it didn’t invent rolling papers. What it did was connect them through a philosophy that valued restraint over enhancement. By doing less to the paper, RAW changed how cones and rolling papers are evaluated across the industry. From that first $1 million order in 2004 to becoming the most recognized rolling paper brand worldwide, RAW proved that sometimes the most innovative solution is to strip away the artificial and return to what's natural. In doing so, they didn't just create a product—they sparked a movement that changed smoking culture forever.
How RAW Rolling Papers Impact Combustion Temperature and Smoke Quality

How RAW Rolling Papers Impact Combustion Temperature and Smoke Quality

by Green Blazer Media on Jul 11, 2025
When it comes to rolling papers, not all are created equal. RAW rolling papers have built a reputation in the smoking community for elevating the smoking experience—but why? It turns out, the materials and construction of RAW papers play a significant role in both combustion temperature and smoke quality. Whether you’re a casual smoker or a connoisseur, understanding these factors can transform your experience. So, grab a seat, spark up (with RAW, of course), and read on to learn why these papers stand above the rest. The Role of Natural Materials in Combustion One of the key ingredients in RAW rolling papers’ magic is their commitment to natural materials. Unlike traditional rolling papers that are often bleached and full of additives, RAW papers are made from unrefined, unbleached plant fibers. That means there’s less interference with the combustion process. The result? A slower, more even burn that’s free of the chemical aftertaste you get with many conventional papers. What does that mean for you? Simply put, RAW papers keep your smoke pure. This not only enhances flavor but also ensures a smoother draw, especially when compared to other synthetic or heavily processed papers. It’s like the difference between sipping on freshly brewed coffee versus an instant packet—except a lot more satisfying. Combustion Temperature and Slow Burning Another critical advantage of RAW rolling papers comes down to how they handle combustion temperature. The science is straightforward—RAW papers are specifically designed to burn at a lower temperature. Why is this important? Lower combustion temperatures preserve the natural flavor profiles of your herbs, preventing the harsh, burnt taste that often occurs with high-temperature burns. The ultra-thin design of RAW papers supports this slow-burning process. Whether you’re rolling a classic joint or packing a cone, these papers allow you to enjoy a steady, prolonged session instead of a fast burn-out. It means more control, more flavor, and a more relaxed smoking experience. Smoke Quality and Clean Draws Have you noticed smoke from RAW papers feels lighter, less harsh, and more genuine? That’s no happy accident. Thanks to their additive-free composition, RAW papers minimize the added substances that can turn smoke harsh or acrid. Instead, they deliver a much cleaner profile—perfect for smokers who prioritize quality over fillers. This clean draw also makes RAW rolling papers a favorite for people who want to truly taste the nuances in their herbs. For seasoned smokers, it’s about respecting the plant. And for newcomers, it’s an introduction to what smoking should really feel like. Experience the Difference Smoking is personal, and at the end of the day, it’s about enjoying the process as much as the product. RAW rolling papers give you the upper hand, providing a cleaner, smoother, and more controlled session. Whether it’s the natural materials, slow-burning properties, or pure smoke quality, RAW has something that strikes a chord for every type of smoker out there. It’s a game-changer—once you go RAW, there’s really no going back. Frequently Asked Questions About RAW Rolling Papers What makes RAW rolling papers different from other brands?  RAW rolling papers are unbleached, unrefined, and made with natural plant fibers, unlike many conventional rolling papers filled with additives. This not only ensures a cleaner taste but also delivers a slow burn and smoother draws. Do RAW papers burn slower than other brands?  Yes! RAW papers are designed to burn at lower combustion temperatures, leading to a slower and more even burn. That means you can enjoy your smoking session without constantly relighting or losing flavor. How RAW Classic Paper Material Affects Flavor Compared to Hemp or Flavored Wraps

How RAW Classic Paper Material Affects Flavor Compared to Hemp or Flavored Wraps

by Green Blazer Media on Jun 06, 2025
The world of smoking isn’t just about what you’re smoking; how you smoke makes a significant difference too. Among the many options, RAW Classic, hemp wraps, and flavored wraps have emerged as three popular choices for tailored smoking experiences. But beyond user preferences, the material of these wraps plays a pivotal role in the taste and burn of your session. How do they compare, and which one fits your ideal setup? This blog breaks it all down so you can make an informed choice.  RAW Classic Papers Enhance Natural Flavors  For aficionados seeking purity, RAW Classic papers are the gold standard. Made from natural plant fibers and completely unbleached, these wraps deliver a clean and unadulterated smoking experience. The thin, slow-burning paper allows the true flavor of your material to shine through without interference. Think of it like sipping a fine coffee brewed without additives – simple, smooth, and authentic.  Additionally, RAW Classic’s proprietary watermark reduces runs and ensures an even burn, further impacting the consistency of taste. If you're someone who values the pure essence of your herbs, RAW Classic papers are unmatched.  Organic Hemp Wraps Offer Subtle Earthy Undertones  Hemp wraps, particularly raw organic varieties, cater to those who want a natural experience with a slight flavor enhancement. Unlike RAW Classic papers, hemp wraps introduce a mild earthy profile that complements the flavors of your material. Made from 100% natural hemp and free of additives or bleach, they balance cleanliness with a touch of indulgence.  The slightly thicker texture of hemp wraps allows for a slower burn, providing a laid-back session that’s perfect for those who like to savor their smoke. Whether paired with bold strains or mellow blends, hemp wraps are a favorite for those looking for a naturally enhanced flavor profile.  Flavored Wraps Add a Twist of Sweetness  If you're all about experimenting with taste, flavored wraps are the way to go. Infused with flavors like mango, berry, or vanilla, these wraps transform your session into a sensory adventure. They’re ideal for masking harsh flavors or adding excitement to more neutral strains.  However, it’s worth noting that flavored wraps often contain additives or processing elements that can overshadow the natural flavors of your material. For some, this trade-off is worth it; for purists, it might not be. Ultimately, flavored wraps are great for occasional indulgence or creative pairings but might not be the first choice for connoisseurs.  Choosing the Right Wrap for Your Session  Whether you're a purist, an adventurer, or somewhere in between, the right wrap enhances your overall experience. RAW Classic papers are for those who appreciate simplicity and the subtle nuances of their material. Hemp wraps offer a middle ground with their earthy undertones, perfect for naturalists with a hint of pizzazz. Flavored wraps, on the other hand, are for experimenters who want to mix things up.  Ultimately, the best choice depends on your taste preferences and the type of smoking experience you want to create.  Frequently Asked Questions About RAW Classic Cones  What makes RAW Classic papers better than other options?  RAW Classic papers are known for their ultra-thin, unbleached design. They allow the natural flavors of your material to come through without interference, offering a clean and consistent burn. Plus, they are eco-friendly and free from harsh processing chemicals, making them a top choice for purists.  Are RAW Classic papers suitable for beginners?  Absolutely! RAW Classic cones are especially beginner-friendly, as they come pre-rolled. This eliminates the hassle of rolling your own and ensures every session starts on the right note. Understanding the Gum Strip on RAW Rolling Papers and How It Affects Seal and Burn

by Green Blazer Media on Jun 05, 2025
Rolling enthusiasts know that every component of a rolling paper impacts its performance. One detail often overlooked is the gum strip. For RAW rolling papers, the gum strip plays a vital role in delivering a high-quality smoking experience. But why is the gum strip so important? And how does RAW ensure its gum strip stands out from the competition? Let's explore what makes RAW gum strips unique and why they matter. What Makes RAW's Gum Strip Unique The gum strip is what holds your roll together, ensuring a secure seal every time. RAW gum strips are made from acacia tree sap, which is not only sustainable but also free from harmful additives and chemicals. This natural adhesive ensures that: Your rolls are free from unwanted tastes or odors. The seal remains strong without the use of synthetic compounds. It aligns with eco-friendly and health-conscious values. RAW's commitment to natural materials is one of the reasons it’s a favorite among those who want a cleaner smoking experience. How the Gum Strip Affects the Burn A steady and even burn is crucial for an enjoyable smoking session, and the gum strip plays a significant role here. Pro tip: To achieve the perfect seal, lightly moisten the gum strip and apply gentle pressure. This technique ensures a secure roll without over-saturating the paper. Durability and Reliability in Every Seal One of the standout features of RAW gum strips is their reliability. Whether you're rolling at home or on the go, you can count on RAW papers to hold up. The gum strip adheres even in slightly humid or dry conditions, providing consistency across various environments. Why RAW Rolling Papers Are Better for Full Spectrum Highs Than Bleached Papers

Why RAW Rolling Papers Are Better for Full Spectrum Highs Than Bleached Papers

by Green Blazer Media on May 13, 2025
When it comes to enhancing your smoking experience, the paper you choose plays a bigger role than you might think. Whether you're a seasoned smoker or new to the scene, rolling papers are a crucial component of the session. Enter RAW rolling papers, a fan-favorite known for their unbleached, natural design. But how do they compare to bleached papers? Spoiler alert: RAW rolling papers come out on top. Unbleached and Untouched by Chemicals  One of the standout features of RAW rolling papers is their commitment to keeping it natural. Made from unbleached fibers, RAW papers avoid the chemical treatments that bleached papers undergo. Why is this important?  When you light up bleached papers, the chemicals used in the whitening process can release toxins that aren’t just harsh on your lungs but also detrimental to the flavor of your material. RAW’s unrefined papers, on the other hand, burn cleanly, letting the true, unmasked flavors shine through. Smoking shouldn’t taste like chemicals, and with RAW, it never will. A Smoother and Slower Burn  RAW takes the smoking experience to the next level with its proprietary watermark and thin paper design. The crisscross watermark embedded in RAW papers ensures an even, slow burn that enhances every puff, eliminating frustrating issues like runs or "canoeing." Bleached papers, often thicker, tend to burn faster and unevenly, wasting your material and interrupting your session.  Smokers who want to savor their material appreciate RAW’s design for its consistency and its ability to prolong the experience, making every session a full-bodied, full-spectrum high. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Choice  Choosing RAW rolling papers is not just better for you, but also for the planet. Manufactured with sustainability in mind, RAW papers are crafted from natural plant fibers without harmful additives. Their production process uses renewable energy sources, making them a more eco-friendly option compared to the resource-heavy, chemically treated manufacturing of bleached papers.  Every time you choose RAW, you’re not just elevating your smoking game, you’re contributing to a greener planet. Upgrade Your Session Today  For enthusiasts who value purity, taste, and sustainability, RAW rolling papers are the clear winner. Stop Rolling Joints and Start Packing Them Instead

Stop Rolling Joints and Start Packing Them Instead

by Green Blazer Media on Feb 21, 2025
For many pre roll enthusiasts, rolling the perfect joint is an art. It's a ritual that speaks to personal style, creativity, and that satisfying feeling when you finally spark up a well-crafted smoke. But what if there’s a better, simpler, and more consistent way to enjoy your cannabis? Enter the world of pre-rolls—specifically, packing your joints instead of rolling them. While rolling might have its charm, packing cones has quickly gained popularity for a variety of reasons. In this post, we’ll explain why you should ditch the traditional rolling papers and start packing pre-rolls instead. The Struggle of Rolling: Why It’s Not Always the Best Option Rolling a joint is undoubtedly a skill, but let’s be honest—it's not always easy. Getting a perfect, evenly packed roll can be a challenge, even for seasoned smokers. Uneven rolls can cause the joint to burn unevenly, leading to frustrating “canoeing” (where one side burns faster than the other) and wasted cannabis. For those with less dexterity, rolling by hand can be time-consuming and stressful. And even if you do manage to roll a decent joint, there's no guarantee it will burn smoothly. Packing: The New Era of Perfect Joints Packing pre-rolls is a game-changer, and here's why: Consistency Is Key When you pack a pre-roll cone, you’re using a uniform shape and size, ensuring consistency in every joint. Unlike hand-rolling, which varies from person to person, packing allows for an even amount of cannabis to be placed in the cone. This results in a smooth, even burn every time. No more worrying about the joint burning too quickly or unevenly—packing guarantees a steady, reliable experience. Speed and Efficiency Rolling a joint takes practice and time. If you’re in a rush or just want to enjoy your cannabis without the hassle, packing is the way to go. With pre-rolled cones, you can simply grind your cannabis, fill the cone, and pack it down with a packing stick. It’s quicker and easier than rolling from scratch, making it perfect for those moments when you don’t want to spend too much time preparing your smoke. No More Wasted Cannabis One of the common issues with hand-rolling is wasting cannabis—whether it’s from spilt ground material or from not packing it tightly enough. Packing a pre-roll cone ensures you’re using every bit of your cannabis efficiently. By using the right packing technique, you avoid overfilling or underfilling the cone, ensuring you get the right amount of herb in each joint. Better Airflow, Better Smoke The key to smooth smoke is proper airflow. Packing a cone ensures the cannabis is evenly distributed, which promotes better airflow and a cleaner, smoother hit. Hand-rolling, on the other hand, often leads to inconsistent airflow, which can affect the quality of your smoke. A packed joint will provide a more enjoyable and flavorful experience, making it perfect for connoisseurs who appreciate the nuances of their cannabis. How to Pack a Pre-Roll Like a Pro Packing a pre-roll might seem like a simple task, but there’s a technique to getting it just right. Here’s a quick guide to packing your joints: Choose Your Cone: Select a pre-rolled cone, such as the RAW cones, that suits your smoking preferences. King-sized cones are popular for those who want a larger smoke. Grind Your Cannabis: Use a grinder to achieve an even, fine grind. Avoid grinding it too finely, as this can make it harder to pack. Pack It Evenly: Use a packing tool or tamping stick to pack the cannabis into the cone evenly. Apply gentle pressure to avoid overpacking, which can affect the burn. Twist the End: Once the cone is packed, twist the end to seal it and make sure everything is tightly packed. Why Packing Is the Future of Joints The growing popularity of pre-rolls and packed cones reflects a shift towards more efficient, reliable, and enjoyable smoking. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced smoker, packing your joints provides an easy, consistent way to enhance your experience. It eliminates the guesswork, reduces time spent preparing, and ensures a smooth, flavorful smoke every time. Conclusion: The Smart Choice for the Modern Smoker Packing pre-rolls is more than just a trend—it’s a smarter, easier way to enjoy cannabis without the hassle of hand-rolling. With the right tools and a little practice, you can elevate your smoking experience to a whole new level of consistency and quality. At Green Blazer, we’re committed to providing you with the best RAW pre-rolled cones on the market to ensure your next smoke session is smooth, enjoyable, and hassle-free. Ready to make the switch? Enjoy your perfect joint, packed to perfection—every time.

What Are Rolling Papers Made Of?

What Are Rolling Papers Made Of?

by Green Blazer Media on May 16, 2024
Rolling papers are used to smoke both tobacco and cannabis. Tobacco is usually smoked in the form of a cigarette and cannabis may be called a joint, blunt, or a variety of other names. What are rolling papers made of? There are a variety of materials and all have their advantages and disadvantages. Here are the common materials for rolling papers so that you can choose what you like.  Rice  Rice paper is a common material for rolling. It was one of the first types of rolling papers ever made, popular for its light weight and slow even burning. Another advantage of rice paper is its lack of flavor, allowing the taste of the cannabis to come through. Rice rolling papers are known as one of the healthiest options as well.  Hemp Hemp rolling papers are some of the most natural, purest forms. Made from the same plant that is being smoked, hemp prevents contamination from other additives or toxins that may be contained in other rolling papers. It is also known for being easy to roll and offers a slow, even burn.  Flax  Flax is thin like rice paper and extremely pure. It is considered to be easy to roll. The biggest advantage of flax rolling papers is that they create less smoke when they burn for a healthier, less toxic smoking experience that maximizes flavor.  Wood Pulp Rolling papers made of wood pulp were a popular choice in the early days, but have fallen out of favor with many smokers because they burn too quickly and have the largest negative impact on the environment. Wood pulp papers are often bleached to look lighter, which results in harsh chemicals that can mask the flavor of the cannabis.  Clear  Clear rolling papers are made of biodegradable cellophane. They look great as the cannabis shows through. However, they contain glycerine which releases a known carcinogen called Acrolein when burned, so they are best avoided.  What is the Best Material for Rolling Papers?  There is not necessarily one type of material that is best. Consider the pros and cons of each type to decide which you would prefer to use. Hemp probably has the greatest number of pros and the least amount of cons. It is easy to roll, all natural, and won’t interfere with flavor. Rice and hemp are the most common types sold, which makes them the most affordable options due to abundant supply.  Benefits of Pre Rolled Cones  Rolling your own joints may seem like a good option, but there are some definite advantages to purchasing raw pre rolled cones. You can skip buying papers and learning how to roll by hand or with a machine. Pre rolled hemp cones from Green Blazer come in a variety of sizes, types, and flavors for a customized smoking experience. Our products are made with an eco-friendly process and are 100% GMO-free. When Were Rolling Papers Invented?

When Were Rolling Papers Invented?

by Green Blazer Media on Apr 29, 2024
One of the simplest and most common ways to use cannabis is to smoke it. In order to do that, rolling papers are required to make a cannabis cigarette, or a joint as it is more commonly known. Today there are many different types of rolling papers made of a variety of materials.  Long before products such as raw pre rolled cones, people had to roll their own cigarettes and joints. When were rolling papers invented? The history is quite interesting.  Early Rolling Papers As far as modern historical records go, rolling papers may have been invented sometime during the 1500s. There is not a definite date or a person who can be credited with the invention, but it may have started in France. The first record of manufactured rolling papers was in the 1560s by the Mauduit mill in Quimperle, France.  The first well-known brand of rolling papers was created by the Lacroix family in 1660. As the story goes, Pierre Lacroix traded rolling papers for a bottle of champagne in 1532, which helped him realize their value. Over time the family developed the product and turned it into a lucrative business. In 1736 the Lacroix Rolling Paper Company was founded. The first major customer was Napoleon, who contracted the company to make rolling papers for his soldiers.  Continued Development  The Lecroix family continued to manufacture rolling papers for centuries. In 1865 the formula was changed to rice paper and the name was changed to RizLa. By 1900 the product had traveled throughout Europe and eventually reached America. In 1942 the Lecroix family patented a method for sealing the rolling papers with a natural gum adhesive. The company remained exclusively family owned until 1978 when it was sold to Fernand Penblanc.  The Invention of the Cigarette Rolling Machine  Another major accomplishment by the Lecroix family was the invention of the cigarette rolling machine in 1883. This increased the demand for rolling papers and furthered the success of the company. The design is still used today in modern rolling machines.  Other Early Manufacturers of Rolling Papers In 1703 Spain officially entered the rolling paper industry. Pay-Pay is a company in Alcoy, Spain that still makes rolling papers to this day. It is considered one of the oldest rolling paper manufacturers in the world. Bambu is another Spanish-based rolling paper company that dates back to 1764.  Canada, Turkey, and China were the next countries to start making their own rolling papers. The industry became much more widespread, which meant that a wider variety of rolling paper types and materials became available.  What Are Rolling Papers Made of Today?  The rolling papers used today are made of pulp, hemp, rice, and flax, or any combination of these materials. Some papers are designed to be fast burning and others more slow burning depending on your preferences and fillers.  The Convenience of Pre Rolled Cones  Skip the hassle of rolling your own joints and purchase raw pre rolled cones from Green Blazer. Pre Rolled Cones Officially Have Dethroned Rolling Papers

by Green Blazer Media on Jan 21, 2024
Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we? Once upon a time, in a galaxy where smoking enthusiasts wore their rolling skills as a badge of honor, Raw Papers were the ultimate tool of the trade. But, much like the reign of low-rise jeans, things have changed. In the ever-evolving world of DIY rolling, where consumers are perpetually looking for shortcuts without sacrificing quality, enter pre rolled cones. And no, they haven’t just entered. They’ve strutted in, making a statement that’s impossible to ignore. Remember the times when you were trying to perfect that roll, only to end up with a pathetic, uneven stick that barely does justice to your herb? Pre rolled cones have effectively shoved those memories into oblivion. Now, before the purists raise their eyebrows and start on their monologues about the ‘authenticity’ and the ‘ritualistic experience’ of rolling, let me intervene with my typically dry wit: Not everyone has the time or the dexterity of a sushi chef. For the average Joe and Jane, pre rolled cones offer a convenience that’s just... impeccable. It’s like having your cake and eating it too, but in this case, you’re packing your herb and smoking it smoothly. And who do we have to thank for this effortless smoking revolution? The pioneers, the mavericks, the torchbearers of quality - RAW. With their array of RAW cone sizes tailored for every kind of smoker, from the dainty puffer to the cloud chaser, RAW cones have effectively conquered the pre rolled cones industry. Talk about a corporate takeover, but in the best way possible. For those unacquainted with the nuances of these cones, let's dive a tad deeper. Among the array of raw cone sizes, the King Size Cone stands tall and proud. Holding a hearty 1.5g of herb and stretching a solid 109mm with a 26mm tip, it's the Cadillac of cones. And for those with a discerning taste, who insist on only the best of the best, there’s a treat waiting - RAW Blacks, the very essence of elegance, and the thinnest paper ever produced for rolling. It’s like the fine wine of the smoking world. Now, don’t get me wrong. I have a soft corner for the old-school charm of Raw Rolling Papers. There’s an art, a dance almost, in rolling the perfect herbal cigarette. But let’s be realistic. Not everyone is Picasso. And for the vast majority who can’t draw (or roll) to save their lives, pre rolled cones are the saving grace. So, the question beckons, have RAW cones officially dethroned Raw Rolling Papers? Well, it’s not so much a dethroning as it is passing the torch. And with RAW reigning supreme in both arenas, it's clear who’s wearing the crown in the herbal kingdom. In a world that’s constantly racing against time, efficiency is the name of the game. And when efficiency meets quality, well, that’s a match made in heaven. So, whether you're a rookie, a veteran, or someone who simply can’t be bothered with the fuss of rolling, give a nod of gratitude to RAW Cones every time you light up. They’ve made the ritual of smoking a whole lot easier, classier, and more accessible. And for that, here’s a slow, appreciative drag in their honor. Cheers!
